Our oldest product and a most successful one is BETON-SEAL SUPER K, “BSSK” for short. It took our founder, Alain de Comarmond, more than 1 year of laboratory and field work, with the help of The Portland Cement Institute, to come up with a successful formula of a finely balanced blend of silicates, with additives, that promote penetration into concrete.

BETON-SEAL SUPER K was officially launched in 1988, which since has only known success. BSSK penetrates the concrete and cement renders, where it chemically reacts with the soluble salts of hydrated cement to form calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H), a permanent and main component of the cement paste that binds the aggregates together. BSSK hardens and seals concrete from inside, right up to the surface, which wear and stain resistance are drastically increased. Moreover, BSSK does not leave a film on the surface and is therefore not subject to degradation by traffic and UV light.

We are often asked how long will a concrete floor treated with Beton-Seal Super K last, before BSSK needs to be reapplied. Well, we have already passed the 25 years mark. And never had to go back to treat the same concrete flooring again! The balance of unreacted BSSK remains dormant inside concrete, until moisture becomes present. Moisture then triggers BSSK’s chemical reaction which further seals the pores, capillaries and fissures up to 2.5mm wide.
